We aim to keep everything simple, fair, and friendly — just like our bookshop.
1. About Us
Karin’s Treasures is an independent Pretoria-based second-hand bookshop offering carefully curated pre-owned books online and locally.
Each book is individually checked, honestly described, and photographed where necessary.
2. Product Information
Most books are second-hand and may show normal signs of age or use.
We describe condition clearly and note any significant flaws. Please read descriptions carefully before purchasing.
3. Pricing
All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR).
Prices may change without notice.
In the unlikely event of a pricing error, we reserve the right to correct it before fulfilling the order.
4. Orders
Orders are confirmed once payment has cleared.
Because many books are single copies, availability cannot be guaranteed until payment is received.
If payment is not received within 48 hours, the order may be cancelled and items returned to stock.
5. Payment
We accept secure payments via:
- Yoco (card and Instant EFT)
- PayFast (card and Instant EFT)
- Direct bank EFT (manual transfer)
Orders are only packed and prepared once payment has cleared.
6. Shipping & Delivery
Orders are packed within 1–2 business days after payment clears.
Delivery options include:
- Aramex Drop Box to Door
- PUDO by The Courier Guy
- PostNet to PostNet
- Paxi (PEP to PEP)
Delivery times depend on the courier selected and your location.
Tracking details are provided once your parcel has been dispatched.
Free Shipping: We offer Free Shipping on all orders of R600 or more. Please note: This offer is strictly limited to Paxi (PEP to PEP) and PUDO Locker-to-Locker delivery only.
Local Collection
Pretoria customers may arrange same-day collection by arrangement, subject to payment clearance.
Risk of loss or damage passes to the customer once the parcel has been delivered to the selected address, locker, kiosk, or collection point.
7. Reservations / Holds
We’re happy to place items on hold for up to 48 hours.
If payment is not received within this time, the reservation expires and the item returns to stock.
8. Returns & Store Credit
Because we specialise in carefully described second-hand books, all items are sold as described.
Returns are only accepted for verified publisher or manufacturing defects beyond our control, such as:
- missing pages
- duplicate pages
- major printing faults
Returns are not accepted for:
- change of mind
- normal second-hand wear
- minor imperfections
Approved claims are resolved with:
- a replacement copy (if available), or
- store credit
We do not offer cash refunds.
9. Discounts & Rewards
Karin’s Treasures offers the following discounts as a thank-you to our community of readers, donors, and fellow booksellers.
Book Donation Discount
Customers who donate good-quality, readable second-hand books may receive a 20% thank-you discount on ALL purchases.
Acceptance and suitability of donated books are assessed at Karin’s Treasures’ discretion.
Wholesale / Dealer Discount
Registered book dealers and resellers qualify for a 20% wholesale discount.
Proof of dealer or reseller status is required before the discount is applied.
Loyalty Discount
Eligible loyal customers may receive a 10% loyalty discount code valid for 12 months.
This discount applies to:
- website purchases
- WhatsApp orders
- in-shop purchases
Codes are non-transferable and may not be shared.
General Discount Terms
Discounts and promotions may not be combined unless stated otherwise.
Karin’s Treasures reserves the right to modify, pause, or withdraw any discount or rewards programme at any time.

All website content, photographs, and images remain the property of Karin’s Treasures and may not be copied or used without permission.
