Plot Synopsis
In 1933, Bella Stuart leaves her quiet London life behind to travel to Italy as a governess for the young son of an aristocratic Italian family. In the warmth of the summer sun, she finds deep friendship and a burgeoning sense of adventure. However, as the decade closes and fascism takes a violent grip over Europe, her young charge’s Jewish heritage places his life in imminent danger. Together with an enigmatic music teacher, Bella must attempt a perilous, desperate train escape out of the country.
